The author, clearly a utopian academic, wants to move heaven and Earth against China - all because 20 Indian soldiers were killed by China in the recent border skirmish.

The author's wishlist is ridiculous, eg: "revising the UN Charter as well as International Law":

- "with a view to terminating China's permanent membership in the UN Security Council" and

- "withholding the permanent recognition granted to it by all sovereign states."

His most laughable suggestion is:

"China's weapons, including nuclear weapons, must also be put under UN control"

China would start a nuclear war if some international Coalition tried to seize China's nuclear weapons.

If the author toned down his knee-jerk, grab-bag of suggestions it would be more achievable and believable.

Keep your friends close and you enemies closer. The best defence we could have against any potential Chinese aggression is knowing their culture. Chinese language and culture lessons should be compulsory in all our schools just as English is in theirs.

jimmy2shoes,

I can't stand even listening to Chinese let alone want to speak it.

It has to be one of the world's most horrible sounding languages.

<< It is evident that China has blatantly taken recourse to unethical means - grabbing land areas, maritime channels and the air space of other countries - with a view to assume unquestioned and unparalleled hegemony over the entire world. >>
What overblown unsubstantiated hyperbole!
What land is China grabbing? Yes, there are border disputes with India, but parts of that border have never been clearly defined or sorted out fairly between both parties. Both countries are equally accusing each other of land grabs. Another legacy of Britain's imperial interference in drawing up borders it knew nothing about.
Maritime channels? Yes, China is shoring up its presence in the South China Sea. Most of its trade passes through this area and it has every right to defend these channels. None of this would be happening if the US hadn't been aggressively threatening China for the last decade or so.
And what air space is China invading? It's regularly suffering its own skies being invaded by the US, but I'm not certain it's displaying the same arrogant aggression anywhere else, unless again, you're referring to the disputed Indian border territory.
We've got Scott Morrison here causing more than enough damage with his belligerent beating of the war drums against China. We don't need any Indian professors adding to the sabre rattling.
If you really want to help Australia, Sudhanshu, perhaps you could try and reign in your country's big corporate cowboy, Adani. His mine will do far more damage to Australia and the world than anything emanating from China.

Mr O, I have found that most middle aged angry self entitled white people,(lets call them Karens) dont like the sound of any foreign language. I have actually witnessed these types of people while on holiday in foreign countries angrily berating nationals for not speaking English. I think as a country we need to move on and teach our kids not to be xenophobic, most Europeans can speak 2 or more languages , they cant do business without knowing English because this is the language of their trading partners. We need to become a little smarter about this.

jimmy2shoes,

What's that got to do with the fact that I think Chinese is a horrible sounding language.

Surely you wouldn't place it on the same level as French and Italian.
