Australia’s self-inflicted coronavirus woes : Comments

By Alex Walsh, published 12/6/2020

Domestic travel restrictions and lockdowns of varying severity in different states have crippled businesses, eviscerated jobs and incomes, and helped drive an already-anaemic economy into a significant recession.

The reminder that our useless politicians have been relying on mass immigration is pertinent while our borders are still closed. When the panic is over, we can learn to do without polluting the country with more people and keep the borders closed to Third World immigrants.

Of course the economic disaster per Morrison was avoidable. Our Asia-struck PM could have copied Taiwan - similar population, similar result on China virus deaths, but with an intact economy coming out of it. And, the Fortress Australia policy, derided by the left-luvvies, is exactly what should have been applied. Nobody, Australian citizen not, should have been admitted to Australia after the virus alert was first sounded. With all the tosh about 'Aussies' returning, there was TV footage of Asians swarming into our airports.

The whole thing has been an utter balls-up by a one-man-band Prime Minister who never expected to be PM, never wanted to be PM and is just no good at the job. We will be paying for his incompetence and reliance on equally incompetent advisors for a long time.

One of the reasons why Australia did not close its borders with China earlier is because of the dishonesty with which China passed on information about the Covid 19 visus which, as at early January, was still largely confined within China.

I'm a member of the Centre for Independent Studies and happen to totally disagree with their reassessment in hindsight of what Australia's response to the virus should have been. In my view, our response was as good as it could have been, considering the uncertain circumstances surrounding knowledge of the virus in the early days of the epidemic.

I think this ex Public Servant should have checked a couple of things but being ex PS would not!
First check the Italian and UK statistics as to who caught it, who was diagnosed with it and who died from it. Loads of people got it and were caused no obvious ill effects, others would have been tested and those in the previous category would have been put in the scare us shitless category by the Australian PS. Some people were sick and some were very sick and some died. With the deaths they were invariably people over 80 years old with other health problems. Most were in God's waiting room for sure. So we are just talking about another disease that has killed about or less than the average annual flu.
The author is right about the money wasted that our Grandchildren will be paying back. We will never do this again because we will be in the middle of the 21st century depression caused by our politicians and public service.
Here is an idea, what about we focus of ripping off all their benefits! Salaries and pensions, all reduced, across the board with absolute limits for one person or couple. This would reduce the debt much quicker than otherwise. It might also teach them about actions having consequences.

Self-inflicted!? Perhaps? But only if you accept it was Australian tourists indulging themselves in pleasure pursuits that brought covid-19 back with them and shared quite generously!

I get that you are one of those folk who seriously believes, that we should have just let it rip and kept the economy going, come what may?

But a minority view not shared by the wider public!

That said, the milk has been spilled and no amount of after the event, crying, is ever going to unspill it!

Therefore, the goal and emphasis has to be, the intended and maximised recovery! TBC.

The annual flu has a death rate of around 2% worldwide?

Covid-19 is about a 20% kill rate with some of the so-called mild cases needing to be hospitalised and only being back around 80% of lung functions many months after discharge.

And the deaths were often caused by blood clots that were caused by covid-19.

No annual flu, as far as I know, comes with viral phenomena or pulmonary embolisms!

If the extremely ignorant, whose combined IQ and or actual medical knowledge, would struggle to equal the ambient temperature, think otherwise? It's is because they are pig-ignorant lame brains?

If there's another explanation? Well? Waiting! Still waiting! Need a couple of days, do we?

So there is no comparison, save in the eyes of the aforementioned, intellectually challenged, fact-free, lame brains!?

You'll have a nice day now, y'hear.
