Give us a break. We are all entitled to equal treatment and are getting it. Prisons are supposed to isolate prisoners form the big bad world outside, so its safer in there.

If not then the prisons are as secure as they are meant to be. Every "look at me" special group wants special attention. Join the que and accept what is available liked the rest of us!.

As for releasing prisoners, what a joke... just look at the Mayor of New York, now having to direct scare resources to re incarcerate those they released, because it caused a crime wave.. Join the real world Author!

Another racist attack on white people by the activist class who imply that if aboriginal people are disproportionately involved in serious criminal behaviour, it must somehow be the white man's fault.

In 1993,the sundry, self appointed representatives of various ethic groups in Australia successfully lobbied the Federal government to prevent the Australian Bureau of Statistics from collating any statistics related to ethnic crime. They did not want the Australian public be presented with clear evidence that certain ethnicities are either far more law abiding than others, or far more criminally inclined. To do so would destroy the Quixotic fantasy that all races and cultures are equal.

But clear evidence that ethnicity and crime are linked can be gleaned from the ABS publication "Prisoners in Australia by country of birth." This publication clearly shows that people of aboriginal, Pacific Islander, Lebanese, New Zealand, and Vietnamese ethnicities were very disproportionately involved in serious, usually violent crime and drug trafficking. While some ethnicities (Japanese and Indians) were almost crime free.

Instead of moaning that aboriginal people are disproportionately jailed,, Hannah McGlade could ask herself why aboriginal people are so criminally inclined? instead she tries to do the red herring thing and blame the white victims of aboriginal crime. Which is understandable, since she holds some university position simply because she is an aboriginal, and she knows that she can keep her government paid position simply by always claiming that aboriginal criminals are the victims of mean and nasty whites.

Of course, she could also enquire as to way, if Australians are so racist and our culture so discriminatory, why does every race and ethnicity around the world breaking their necks and jumping on boats to come to Australia? But she won't do that either. Her very cushy university position is dependent on presenting the narrative that the culture which white Australians bequeathed to this country is evil beyond redemption.

I Agree with A.J's position and to a large extent, those of LEGO.
If they are released back into community and as the first consequence transfer covid-19 to their own elders, there'll be hell to pay and whitey'll be to blame!

If they're over-represented in our prison system? It's because they seem to see crime against whitey as some sort of rite of passage?

As for kids committing crime? Why is that? Could it be that the kids are left unfed and unsupervised and are just stealing food/candy bars and the like? because their food and rent money etc, is pissed against some wall?

And steal petrol so they can sniff what is left of their brains away
If they went to school and di their homework/engaged in healthy sport etc. ate a well as any similar white cohort? They might go on to make something worthwhile of themselves?

Something a bit better than a dictatorial elitist,law-boss, demanding unearnt allegiance to BS stone age customs and culture that are simply not appropriate in the 21st century!

But hey, put them in tracer anklets and send them back to community? Why should I give a rat's if that then introduces the VIRUS? And make sure they, in community, know who advocated and agitated for, just that same outcome!

Aged care is also virtual aged care gulags for the very elderly, who would have less rights and privileges that are the covid-19 free bubbles that properly locked down prisons ought to be!

Take care wash your hands for least 20 seconds and practice social distancing, wherever possible. More yard time and staggered meal breaks in three waves. Eliminate the virus by obliging staff to self-isolate between shift and by preventing visitors for around a month and then only after quarantining eliminates any possible transmission of the VIRUS!

Follow the rules! If only to stay safe. The virus is colour and culture blind!

Pathetic responses:

I don't feel threatened by aboriginals. As the underclass they are, they should be given special consideration, which does not necessarily equate to special privileges.

Assuming all aboriginals are political activists, shows ignorance.

identity/race politics is sickening. Less crime means less gaol. Fairly easy equation.

To Diver Dan

If you give any group of people "special privileges" because of their race, that's racism
