By Cristina Pelkas, published 9/4/2020

As the numbers of sick and dying continue to climb worldwide, the Australian people are being asked what sacrifices we are willing to make to protect our most vulnerable.

"we are willing to make to protect our most vulnerable".

Willing? That would be why the police have had to be set onto so many pricks who are definitely not willing to do the right thing. It's no good jabbering about how good most people are; it's the idiot minority who are spreading the virus. As with most things these days, the majority is irrelevant.

As for all this "we are all in it together" crap from politicians and 'personalities', it's a case of 'the Devil take the hindmost, and stock up on toilet paper'. The police have had to be put onto barbarians and idiots unwilling to do the right thing - it doesn't matter what the do-gooders say about 'most people'. Most people are not the problem when it comes to the China virus.

The "blunt instrument" referred to by this person is the only way to go; and it should have been employed right from the beginning. It is not as though authorities aren't aware of the idiot minority and it's disproportionate effect on society - thanks to social engineering by the burgeoning extreme Left in this country.

Pity we have no discipline at all in protecting tiny babies from execution when they need protecting the most.

A couple of points here.

Putting those who only "may" be infected into safe suitable quarantine is not only protecting the general public, but also protecting those so quarantined. They may not be infected, but others like them will be. By quarantining all these folk those free of infection are also protected from those infected.

On the other hand, by going overboard on restrictions, & enforcing them by sometimes officious police, we are setting ourselves up for a rebellion of those who would otherwise be ready to happily comply with sensible restrictions.

The restrictions must be reasonable & obviously helpful to the cause for many to accept gracefully. The totally unnecessary action of fining a teenager who was simply in a car with a family member, with no intention of ignoring distance requirements, or even stopping the car, was totally counter productive, & displays the very bad attitude to use of their authority by SOME police. The commissioner who supported this action should be dismissed instantly.

For many elderly housebound a short drive, preferably in the country if near by is a tonic, & the highlight of their week. I can see no reason, except bloody mindedness on behalf of some in authority, for such activities to be a fine able event. Authorities need to be very careful what they restrict, else they will find many thumbing their nose at all.

Agree, if we all do it, given we're all in it together.

That said, there is a lawless element that are a law unto themselves, brawl in hopping centres for the last whatever! Think it's all about them and ask if those taking the taxpayer dollar should forgo their benefit so the ultra-privileged can still enjoy all the government largesses they receive?

I believe our frontline medical staff, nurses in the main are our battlefront heroes, and risking all for the unlucky the stupid and the ultra-greedy, ho sem to think that they should retain their customary VIP treatment and the usual unearned government largess?

Negative gearing, super Super and fully franked dividends, even where they've paid no actual tax. Whine like the blue blazes when asked to make a modest sacrifice, or make do like everybody else?

Covid-19 hasn't gone away and until there's a vaccine or, God help us, herd immunity? we will have to live with enforced mandatory quarantine and much, much stiffer penalties for the incorrigible, I'm all right Jack, GTF outta my way, I'm a very important citizen, got property, doncha know etc-etc.

Some things can return in a new guise? Football/sport? Could restart under quarantined conditions behind locked doors and for the duration of the contest (a season's worth) between just two teams, who then move on and repeat elsewhere with the next side? In a new but equally locked down setting?

nd so it goes, until elimination finals, which could take place under similar conditions? Until a grand final could be played? Suggest most take place at night and wherever possible in stadiums that don't allow rooftop sightseers!
Take care and stay safe!

..no vaccine for stupidity or blind wilful (it's all about me) selfishness!
Alan B,
Well, as long as they're being fostered by our Tax Dollars they won't make any effort to better themselves. A National Service scheme would go a very long way towards addressing this dreadful mentality.
And, I suppose a Flat Tax would also help immensely !
So, no vaccine required ! ;-)
