Thus, controlling the Palestinians' lives and their territory became synonymous with Israel's national security.

The constant criticism and nagging by insignificant pissants with nothing better to do must surely encourage real leaders like Trump and Netanyahu to keep doing what they do.

There are two situations which arise from dealings between Israel and the US:
One is, we will never know the whole truth, and the other is, if we believe an account as being truthful, we will still never really know!

Until you realise that the US funds terrorists to promote Israels religious based foreign policy, then you'll all remain clueless.

AC,

Good to hear from the anti-Semites in the bleachers.

Now back to the real world....

This peace plan is about the long game. As such, it's very different to all other attempts to resolve the situation. And, since all previous ideas have been utter failures, doing something different seems to make sense.

I don't think anyone expected the Palestinians to just role over and accept the deal. After all, as it is truly said, the Palestinians never miss a chance to miss a chance. Besides, since the deal seeks to raise up the economic status of all Palestinians, it was always going to be rejected by their leadership who are only interested in policies that improve their personal power and wealth.

The plan is about building an anti-Iran coalition between the various Arabic sunni states and Israel. By offering a plan to peace, the Sunni states, most of whom have welcomed the plan, can deal with Israel with the cover that they are working on behalf of the Palestinians.

Such a coalition gives the US the cover to withdraw even more from a region that holds little interest to them any longer. It was truly said that the US no longer needs to keep the Straits of Hormuz open, they just need the power to close it at will.

A successful coalition, combined with continued strangulation of the Iranian economy, will squeeze the Palestinian life-lines. At some point, even their totalitarian leadership won't be able to keep the lid on that and peace will be sought, based around the 'Deal of the Century'.

Its a long-shot and will require that the US stay on coarse, but since nothing else has or is likely to work, it deserves a try.
