Violent voyeurism: surveillance, spyware and human rights : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 26/6/2019

Mass market surveillance, much of it manufactured in the private sector, the ubiquity of spyware, and the ease with which such material can be acquired, has eclipsed such quibbles.

All the more reason for living truthful and open life.

And of course, the higher up the cherry tree, the more this stuff matters.

Unfortunately, in the heights of the cherry tree, grow the richest fruit.

Something to be said for living in poverty then!

Another well written article.

While one can and does agree with your take this time mate! There remains an indisputable case for full deployment of CCTV technology in nursing homes and geriatric wards. To end self-evident criminal abuse, apparent denial of basic human rights and allegedly, some basic self-determination freedom!

Privacy can be fully protected by the post evidence collection, pixilated blurring, of some of the faces of the victims of this, worst of all abuse, of the most vulnerable!

Much of which possibly explains an abnormally high attrition rate, in particular, if unnamed establishments? And a good place for some real if covert, investigative journalism and undeniable exposure!

Amazing what a good disguise, a nurse's cap, surgical mask and gown is!

Moreover, where there's a will, there's always a relative! As former Toowoomba pathologist. And Japanese POW, William Riddle can attest!?

And as one attending nurse observed as they frog marched you away to your patently unwilling latter day incarceration Bill, old mate. This is not right, this is just not right!

Certainly, I believe, not what anyone would deem as an appropriate reward for heroic service!

Too few voices speaking out for our most vulnerable!
