By Murray Hunter, published 18/6/2019

Reform must tackle the 'state of mind' that engulfs Malaysian public universities to make them relevant to contemporary society and regionally competitive.

It is not only Malaysia's universities which are going backwards, Murray. Australia's universities are headed in the same direction. Why are you concerned about universities in some backward Muslim country, and not worried about what is happening in your own country?

Australian universities are now infested with Red Guards who intimidate liberal professors, stifle free speech, and man the barricades for every left wing, anti Australian cause imaginable. Our universities have been criticised for practically selling diplomas to rich fee paying foreign students, hardly a good look for any university serious about it's academic reputation.

Clean up your own back yard before worrying about some foreign country which is always going to go backwards, because it is run by a bunch of religious relics from the 6th century who hate truth and freedom

fm Lego, that's negative when you put it like that, but probably true.

Another brand of negative are university products or output.

Maybe the focus on the cultural vandalism home based at universities, should be replaced with a focus on usefulness to society generally, as a gauge for output, and government funding attached accordingly.

There are huge social problems which can be addressed through educational means, if the focus of universities is shifted from mere business success to a social responsibility achievement.

The problem as I see it, is one of pandering to the individuals personal needs as a priority over the greater good to society of the institution.

On the money Murray.

Its unsurprising that brown Muslim Malaysians can get away with racial quota's that discriminate against non-Muslim Chinese Malaysians.

No calls in the UN to stop this racist practice.

More enlightened "white" Western democracies would never dream of such racial discrimination. This is because we're more enlightened and it would start international campaigns screaming "White Racism".

But its OK for non-whites to discriminate on the basis of Race and Religion...
