Quiet but OBVIOUS invasion by China, ignored by the buffoons we voted for a couple of weeks ago.

This should have never ever been allowed to happen without appropriate forewarning and the explicit permission of the State government who allegedly represent the owners of the port facilities these ships used, i.e., the unconsulted residents of NSW!

The fact that the Morrison government sees/saw no problem here, while going ballistic over asylum seekers in much smaller unarmed vessels, speaks volumes about the testicular fortitude of the current (toothless tiger) government and an equally silent ( friend of Beijing)opposition!?

Instead, what seems to be of the greatest im[portance to this government is to get the very generous tax cuts done which will impact very generously on their parliamentary salaries! And across the nation to the tune of 95 billion?

At a time when the economy is contracting and we face increasing global economic headwinds! Go figure!

The writer is overlooking the fact that the "Middle Kingdom" is doing precisely what "Mother England" did hundreds of years ago - identify, occupy, and colonise less powerful countries in search of financial dominance.
The Chinese culture is one which differs greatly from our western one. It places considerable Confucian thought about personal respect, competence, and effort, meaning that many citizens have the ability as well as the motivation to succeed in their efforts to benefit from the trade, thus monetary, opportunities in countries who are less strong economically.
Good on China for learning from England!

While on the subject of China Gail Tverberg has published an article
which many will find interesting as it highlights China's energy
problem and explains why shiploads of Australian coal was held up.

Conclusion. If a person doesn’t understand how badly the energy situation is working out for China, or how important energy consumption is, it is easy to think that the problems China is facing are primarily tariff-related. In fact, China’s situation is a very worrisome one, with or without tariffs being added.

To fix the situation, China would need a very cheap, non-intermittent, locally produced, non-polluting additional energy source. This energy source would also need to be rapidly scalable. Such an energy resource doesn’t appear to be available.
