Labor should have had a ballot, not a coronation : Comments

By Tim O'Hare, published 4/6/2019

Of course, factional power doesn't go away overnight and it was no surprise when the inaugural contenders in the first party-wide ballot for the Labor leadership were factional heavy-weights from the Right and Left.

Albo doesn't look or act like a PM. He will always be more of backroom boy. There was no ballot because Laborites are poor losers; the election knocked the stuffing out of then. They have always acted like small, nasty children in adversity.

I am astonished that Labor did not select the obvious choice for the leadership of the Labor Party. Malcolm Turnbull is back in Oz looking for a job

Good thought! Although Turnbull now has another job in the money-making sector. The media is still so besotted with him that they assumed we all needed to know that.

Who says they didn't have a straw poll anyway? This is the usual gripe from someone to the right of centre, who I believe care naught for democracy and its conventions. And is unhappy that the grassroots prefer left-leaning candidates every time! Which has to be a conundrum for the neo-libs inside the Labor tent.

Labor needs a narrative that is not a pale shadow of what the coalition presents and had some really good policies ahead of their loss. Policies like better resource cancer care and cures And their early childhood ed.

And were bought undone on their juxtaposition on coal. There is a future for thermal coal here in Oz, just not the one envisaged by a Labor! And as an alternative, less costly fuel source for transport, with energy provided by new nuclear/MSR thorium and for annul billion dollars profit, very safely burning of other nation's nuclear waste!

Yes Alan, Labor are a strange mix. Ever since Richardson developed his sophisticated vote buying system, they have sunk deeper into the pit of worthlessness.

Firstly the intentionally attract all the miserable malcontents, wanting a hand out of other peoples money. Then academia, also after a handout of other peoples money. Finally the big end of town, prepared to look after the unions in exchange for nice very well padded government contracts, again paid for other peoples money.

Of course they have a few special interest hand outs to gain a few more votes, but nothing good.
