“Christianity is both poorly understood and considered negatively by many Australians. is both poorly understood and considered negatively by many Australians”.

In other words, they don't understand the basis of their society and way of life! There is no hope for people like that. Too busy apologising for vicious Islam perhaps, or just too bovine. You don't have to be a Christian, or even like it, to know how Christianity has underwritten the benefits we enjoy.

In Australia, a rugby player cannot express his Christian beliefs without a furore and threats of career loss, but Muslims displaying placards bearing the message 'behead infidels’, and all the hatred from mad mullahs goes unremarked by Australian dead heads.

Ah well. Stupid Australians will, in the not too distant future, not have to worry about Christianity: what they think will be regulated by Islam or Communist Chinese atheism. After the 18th of May, if the Labor part takes government, they will get a taste of that future. There are plenty of atheistic, Christian-haters in that mob.

PERSECUTION!? What persecution? Just because religious fanatics are howled down by the sane majority doesn't mean they are persecuted!

Or that the sane majority that still owns their own minds and opinions agreed overwhelmingly with the voluntary SSM plebiscite! Doesn't mean that brainwashed troglobites are persecuted!

Just their verbal vomit (gays will go to hell etc) is the thing we find so objectionable!

In fact, their intolerable errant views are tolerated and defended. Always providing they keep their obtuse obdurate views private and don't as is their usual practice, try and ram their errant brainwashed views on the still tolerant others not having their view of reality foisted on them by the usual cloud dwellers. But rather, the irrefutable verifiable objective scientific evidence!

As for the other offshore examples given, this is always going to happen when intolerance focuses its view on different others. And excused oft times by what occurred with the shoe on the other foot over a century ago?

I'm glad this topic was raised at this time in the election cycle, so it can remind voters to sit up and remember just who were the most vocal opponents of SSM still standing at this election. The less power these folk have the better for an increasingly inclusive and genuinely tolerant society!

345 deaths per month are a little more than 'howling down'.

It is you christians persecuting gays and trans gender people, refugees, muslims, women seeking abortions, anyone having sex, children, athiests, scientists and teachers.
Get your hand off it mate you are the persecutors.
Thats why people have to keep pulling you lot into line with laws like the ones prohibiting harassment at abortion clinics and why we had to vote on same sex marriage and why they have to get rid of fools like foloau.

It is not persecution it is stopping you lot from persecuting other people. People you blindly hate and fear and want to see burn in hell.

345 deaths a month ttbn? In Australia? Surely not?

If however, this is occurring in other sovereign nations that just don't respect human rights? Like say, Russia China, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, and others? WTF can we do about it?

Start another Christian crusade with the "Christian" kiddy fiddlers in the vanguard?

I wonder how much of this blatant anti-gay (casting first stones) persecution by the intolerant Christian right has led to the suicide of young gays around the entire globe? More than 345 a month perhaps?

And given this may be so? How much of this innocent blood is on the brainwashed hands of the hard right religious fanatics of all denominations and belief systems.

And will folk like Folou accept their responsibility or wait until they are also judged for their deeds, words and responsibilities?

Rember well the SSM plebiscite and who stood solid and four square against it when you cast your vote!

And advise all who will listen to do likewise! Time to tell these (brainwashed from birth) folk their stone age views are not and never ever were acceptable here

Yea, verily yea.
