Yo call it a rapprochement.

I call it an abject surrender by an activist Pope to Chinese intransigence. There's a lot of that going around - Google, Apple etc.

If the Vatican thinks that giving way to the Politburo on this one point will buy it brownie points in Beijing then they are sa naive as they appear. Perhaps they need some backbone. Where is Pell these days?
