Ball tampering? Anything that artificially alters the normal aerodynamics of a leather bound, hand sewn cricket ball? XXX From diamond hard colourless nail vanish impregnated with fine abrasive material, so in the act of cleaning the ball, the nails are rubbed on a particular patch of the ball and tampering hidden in plain sight! XXX Which is where most ball tampering takes place as it passes through as many hands as possible, so as not to arouse the suspicions of the Umpires, who are all too often kept out of this loop? XXX Some of it shielded from the cameras by not infrequent huddles? XXX Then there's the application of fluid to just one side of the ball, to affect natural bias! Ditto one side polishing. XXX And traditional and acceptable, where it used to be exclusively hard earned Bowler's sweat or their flannels! XXX Not saliva, anybody's and whatever lolly or gum your were chewing at the time? XXX Then there's seam lifting done with thumbnails to allow the seam to grip and turn? I believe it's a waste of time that prematurely softens the ball, that then gives the batting side, additional advantage. XXX A ball naturally reverses after some fifty overs? To get it to do so earlier by legal means requires a lot of short pitched bowling across the seam. So that the ball hits the pitch with the seam horizontal and skids on, rather than bouncing. XXX Personally, I think there ought to be a review and the players allowed to return to state cricket far sooner than envisioned, given ball tampering is far more common and widespread than the public are aware of? XXX Ours unable to keep a zipper on it and just act the normal, immature, over rewarded idiots they are? XXX Surely, they've been sufficiently shammed? Moreover, it's a gentleman's sport played for pleasure and where the better side always prevails or is never beaten? We need some of that, and traditional fair play, inside our administrative bodies! XXX Alan B.

Alan B,

What on earth are you trying to do with throwing all those kisses our way - XXX?

Do you want people to read your posts with these regular interruptions in them?
