Off with his head! : Comments

Yes, nowadays medical science – well, the outer reaches of medical science – are considering what is fairly delicately being referred to as a 'head transplant'.

Science has come a very long way but a head transplant, although very desirable in several well remembered instances (polly want a cracker) is, unfortunately still impossible? I Remember a story by Sir Henry Bolte, which as memory serves, went like this.

In the year 3535, Even brain transplants had become possible. Anyhow, one reporter suffering incurable brain cancer or some such. Decided to get a new one. Anyhow the keeper of the brain bank depository showed him around the preserved in fluid examples and enabled him to compare the prices displayed on either side of a hall.

Anyhow, those on the right were variously priced in just hundreds of dollars, those on the left millions.

The confused applicant looked with some confusion at almost identical brains and begged the question. How come those on the right, are invariably bigger yet so cheap? While those smaller ones on the left almost priced beyond belief?

Simple, replied the custodian, you see those or the right are former Liberal brains and are all but used up, whereas those on the left, are former Labor brains and consequently hardly used at all and in practically brand new unused condition!

We Irish have an expression, any man who thinks he needs a psychiatrist, ought to have his head examined!

Levity aside, we seem to be "HEAD DING" in the wrong direction? Like those pygmies of renown, Livingston met in very tall African grass, one fine day, who replied, when asked who they were? Replied, we're de farkarwe.

Just who would you consider the result of this transplant to be?

The one who's heart is still beating, or the one who's brain still functions.

Could be a real problem for the legal fraternity to establish just what the resultant creature owned, & who it was married to.

Ah Hasbeen. That difficulty already exists, thanks largely to divorce lawyers and divorce courts. And is now further compounded by euthanasia laws and the enduring power of attorney? You know what they say, where there's a will, there's always a relative.

Pete. A very happy new year to you, old mate.

Something is only impossible at the moment because no one has thought how to do it yet.

Some things people think are not possible have already been done but you are just not being told.

A head transplant? Were that it were possible and we could compel a few recalcitrant, empty headed, wrong headed pollies to get one!

Particularly one that made more sense than a few demonstrably coal fired, steam powered, antiquated, new idea resisting, versions, whose mouths flap most vigorously with every strong wind.

Screaming divide and rule rubbish that simply divides a nation! That otherwise would be great and reach for impossible stars and a smorgasbord of new for us, possibilities!

[Some of who would look remarkably familiar, with close cropped hair and a toothbrush mustache.]

And achievable, but for these albatrosses (sick jokes) hanging around our collective neck, as they seek to feather their own (negatively geared) nests, while pretending piously to be serving the nation, or God, or both!

Go figure? Or should that read, please ex-plane?
