Antibiotic resistance : Comments

By Werner Sattmann-Frese, published 29/6/2017

Antibiotic resistance should be viewed as a challenge to re-examine the value of our current profit and competition-driven enemy-making paradigm.

Talk about disconnected! The author discusses scientific medical imperatives well, such as overuse of antibiotics and the outcome on survival; but the remedies?
Such as a Mother with two jobs and rent to pay, cannot stop! And the doctors good advice (based on this article), would be to take a Bex and lay down!
Makes me wonder just what world some people live in.

I'm sure Runner would agree, this is actually Gods vengeance on overpopulation and moral degradation of society. It's not going to end well!

Yes, antibiotic resistance is rendering a number of medical tools inoperable! And the product of clinical overuse! And even prescribed when the infection is an untreatable virus? And if it helps? Generally down to the placebo effect!

I have long held that medicine has become the captive of big pharma and needs to change back to medicine as it was!

Most people just don't understand that oxygen is a quality disinfectant involved in all healing! Yet we fail to use it, when some easy hyperbaric medicine would help.

Like for example, untreatable diabetic or tropical ulcers! Neither of which seem to respond to routine antibiotic treatment, even when given intravenously?

But were assisted in no small measure by the application of hyperbaric oxygen therapy? As were numerous quasi vegetative stroke patients? Who were further assisted/kept out of nursing homes by routine hydrotherapy!

Moreover, it seems to have escaped administrators that it costs half as much to keep old folk well enough to stay in their own homes via the supply of some simple help, when age wearies them!

As opposed to frog-marching them to some distant nursing home, often against their visibly expressed will! So some germ merely masquerading as a normal empathetic human being can, like big pharma, make a lot of money? Preventive medicine would harm the bottom line and profit curves of for profit nursing homes, big pharma and most private hospitals?

Therefore rigidly resisted, given the profit motive is all that matters in consumer medicine? And the reason so little research into new antibiotics takes place? Namely, because there just isn't enough money in curing illness, but heaps in managing symptoms? T.B.C.

The discovery of antibiotics was one of the greatest benefits to humans ever.
Prior to this, even a small scratch could lead to death. Mothers lived in perpetual fear every time their children developed a cough or sore throat because it could be the beginning of the end for the child. Whether you lived in a town or a pristine country environment, whether you were active or lived a sedentary life, the risk was the same.
Every year, millions of people around the world died from bacterial infection.
Yet, according to this author, they should have had good immunity because of their more natural lifestyle, their diet that was free of additives, the lack of pollution in the air.
Like those who proclaim vaccinations are unnecessary because the herd develops natural immunity, he cannot explain why so many died from minor bacterial infections at a time immunity should have been at its highest.
Antibiotic resistance is the result of overuse of those drugs, frequently at the demand of the patient, who somehow cannot bear to leave a doctors rooms without some sort of script in their hands. People rush children to doctors for disorders like a cold or vomiting, sicknesses that our mothers and grandmothers treated at home with old family remedies.
We have become a society that wants an instant fix and the issue of superbugs is going to require a total shift in social management of minor illnesses.

Routinely practised medicine ought to include chelation therapy.

A double blind study into E.D.T.A. chelation therapy was abandoned given some of the participants suffered some foreseeable deleterious side effects! Namely because the routine mineral and vitamin supplements were withheld at the behest of big pharma?

Foolishly, the alternative medical profession went along with this imperative, with foreseeable results, given chelation therapy also claws out the friendlies essential to normal robust good health.

There needs to be another double blind with the normal mineral and vitamin regime included measured against big pharma's major money spinner, statins!

With cognitive abilities/impairment and arterial function measured before during and after! Routine hyperbaric oxygen therapy could be included given folk need to be immobilized for chelation therapy.

Given as quadrennial routine treatment for aged care patients by a visiting district nurse towing a van/portable hyperbaric chamber.

Money saving medicine, given an ounce of preventative medicine saves a ton of cure/endless lifetime medical management!

Statins, big pharma's major profit source? Being a prime example, case in point. Where a relatively recent double blind study, seems to have resulted in only those given the placebo, not suffering some degree of cognitive impairment?

And for what? An average life extension of just nine months, vegetating in some nursing home? Where the better heeled are bleed dry until they die? [see the case against statins, in google scholar?]

Time those who claim to be representing our interests returned to their proper roles, be they "private" practise "doctors" or allegedly representative politicians? Just too many tin ears in play in both camps, methinks!?

A claimed side effect of chelation therapy, seems to be a three month post therapy, recalcification of the skeletal structure and a decalcification of the (unclogged?) arteries, none more important than those supplying absolutely essential oxygen to the brain!

And a good enough reason to properly trial it, as routine preventative medicine, even if the claims of detoxification turn out to be, a trifle overstated?

Currently, it seems, private, for profit, practise oxygen therapy in hyperbaric chambers is limited to 1.5 atmospheres and for just an hour twice a week for around two months? When better results were found, I believe, with at least 3 atmospheres and for a minimum 2 hours 3 times a week for three months?

Pumping air into a chamber while the patient breathes pure oxygen, is not millionaire medicine, but that seems to be who it's reserved and charged for?

Yes, fractional distillation that produces all manner of separated industrial gases, may be expensive! But only because our, ideologically motivated, gormless "governments" have ensured we pay through the nose for our energy sourced from our own coal!

If it were (cheaper than coal) thorium based, walk away safe, nuclear energy, and in LFTR facilities. Those facilities could be used to create miracle cure, far less costly, isotopes extracted, without shutting down reactors!

Even as we task them to burn and reburn problematic nuclear waste other nations pay us billions to store!

Meaning, our industrial power could be virtually free, as would be some of the commodities we could garner using it!

One of which could be o2? And made available, inside a first three hour window! As routine, preventive, oxygen therapy medicine, for paraplegics, stroke patients, plus untreatable diabetic and tropical ulcers, and many other (accelerated healing) ailments/sports injuries!?

Antibiotic resistance the least of our worries, given how much of good quality medicine absolutely relies exclusively on (buck passing, penny wise pound foolish) administrators, only as good as the, up to date and clinically accurate, frank and fearless advice they receive! And just not available from big pharma devotees/stooges/the ignorant!

This is interesting article by Werner Sattmann-Frese. His trick is to use an existing fact, that of antibiotic resistance, and use it to launch an attack on modern, free market societies.

What a load of crap. Human beings today are living longer that they have ever lived in human history. Viruses, bacteria, and antibiotics and were discovered in the disgusting western world, with their free markets. They were not discovered the result by socialist or theological societies. The US Centre for Disease control and the Pasteur Institute have no equivalence outside of the west.

Werner and I might agree that the modern, consumer society is ecologically unsustainable. But dreaming up obviously false examples of western decadence is not the way to present such a valid argument.
