China is in for the long haul : Comments

By Bruce Haigh, published 3/1/2017

They claimed Duterte would attempt to play the major powers off against one another and that he was looking for other states in the region to do likewise.

Australian politics is dominated mostly "by white conservative males". Does anyone other than Bruce Haigh really believe that? The only white conservative males left in Australia have too much integrity to involve themselves in what passes for politics in Australia. Our version of Trump, a non-politician prepared to put the political class to the sword, has yet to rise - if there is such a person, which I doubt, given the moral bankruptcy in Australian public life. The civilised world, the UK and America, got the message; Australia continues eating poop.

Bruce

I can see your political position that Duterte's extra-judicial killings can be forgiven because he is anti-American and pro-Chinese.

You wouldn't want to be anti-government trendy in China - because China has re-education camps that still stand above the law. Where would you sit in this picture http://www.dw.com/en/no-end-to-chinas-notorious-re-education-camps/a-17362570 Bruce?

I always enjoy reading articles by Bruce Haigh.

They are a nice break from reality.

Has the author forgot what China stands for?

The cultural revolution?

The denial of all individual freedoms?

The conquest and occupation of Tibet?

The military threat to force its regime over Taiwan as well?

The recent occupation of the seas around it?

If you don't like the USA and are willing to forego what they offer - then God bless you, but in any case, say NO and never bow down to the communist tyrant!

China has been very generous to the Philippines in allowing them to fish in what used to be their territory.

" And would Australia really use it's yet to be built submarines against its major trading partner?"
Oi Oi yes. After shattering the Japanese Navy in Singapore , throwing the Vietcong over the Hanoi trenches and locking down east Timor , China will be a walkover. Duterte will corner the market in take it away Hong Kong fish.
