The workers no doubt have a tough job, but really, the economy needs to be redesigned so that mothers can work and stay at home with their children throughout the day so that childcare centres are no longer necessary.

For goodness sake, you are talking about TODDLERS who need their Bubby, Fluffy, Blankie, Nanny, Dummy, Ellie and Baba et al. Why in heavens name are they being taught culture and sustainability? Let the little darlings have fun and play.

The child's own mother is the best carer. No child should be put into the 'care' of strangers. There is a moral obligation, now ignored, for children to be with their mothers until they go to school.

So guys, how much are you proposing to pay mums to stay at home? Full wage? For about 4 years?

Sounds nice to me. Very progressive.

kids were desgined to be with mum in the early years. Its a pity we have so many child care centres taking the place of mum.In saying that I admire the dedication and commitment of child care workers.

Compelling article!

It's interesting isn't it? People who expect fair pay and conditions for their "work"? Hold out against fairer reward for the completely thankless task of minding, socializing and educating their hopelessly spoiled miniature monsters!?

Perhaps if they or the responsible Ministers, were compelled to volunteer to man the barricades in a childcare workplace, for one day a week, to understand the demands imposed on overworked underpaid staff; or help pay their fees?

Getting a fair pay deal done, would be no contest!?

That said, affordable housing would solve so many of the identified problems!
