By Simon Caterson, published 9/8/2016

The pejorative Australian and New Zealand term bogan is almost entirely unknown outside those countries though that may be about to change.

Ho hum, all frightfully interesting to be sure. As is the dark side, wolf creek and other factual"entertainment" designed to frighten the living s--t out of our bored stupid inner child, along with any remaining credibility?

Ho hum, Pass another tube mate, lost the last two dozen in yet another technicolor yawn. Ho hum. Yawn. Sigh. Ho Hum. Roll me another. Yawn, sigh.

There's no such thing as Bogan culture, it's purely a pejorative term, an insult uttered by virtue signalling social climbers against those they see as beneath them in order to denote their supposedly higher social class or position.
Bogans don't know they're Bogans and they exist in a parallel society which is totally stripped of culture, it's a meaningless, brutal existence which has only been approached in films such as Rowan Woods' "The Boys" or "Snowtown" directed by Justin Kurzel.

The title Suicide Squad is very objectionable for a movie, but somehow apt for an american movie.

americans take more antidepressants and prescription drugs than any other nation, and everyday about 50 americans die from painkiller overdoses.

https://www.drugwatch.com/2015/07/29/drug-abuse-in-america/

But there is now thought that the violence and deaths that constitute most american 'entertainment' makes people depressed.

I make an effort, and I avoid watching any american movie or TV program, as I do not want to become depressed.

And I can only advise other people in Australia to not watch Suicide Squad, or any other movie or TV show produced in america.

Australians should not become like americans.

Jay,
Many bogans do know they're bogans, and some are proud to be bogans.

Though some would see being uncultured as a defining feature of bogans, culture is actually inescapable even though sone people don't recognise it as such.

Bogan culture involves motor racing and cars, particularly the ones with V8 engines.
It involves guitar based rock music, particularly Midnight Oil and ACDC.
It involves sports, particularly Footy and League.
And it involves beer, for it is closely related to ocker culture.

Not all bogans are into all aspects of bogan culture, but it's definitely a thing.

Nah...there is a list of what Bogans like, and good for them.

At least they don't lack a sense of humor.

Or they are full of themselves, and speak in a loud and arrogant voice while proclaiming everything is "great" and "kinda fun", and then dropping bombs on the rest of the world, while consuming vast quantities of anti-depressants.

Things Bogans like include St Patrick’s Day, Mixed Martial Arts, Short Courses, Poker Nights, Southern Cross Tattoos, Telethons, Puppetry of the Penis, The Melbourne Cup, Vampires, Fad Diets, New Year’s Eve, Personalised Numberplates and Holdens.

Best thing about being classed as a bogan = ignorance is bliss.
