There's no doubt we need research and a funding mechanism to ensure it happens! That starts in my humble opinion with the collection of sufficient revenue for the purpose, devoid of the usual plethora of special interest parasites with their grubby paws in the till? What we need is an idea that has its time that then encourages Big pharma to relocate here! To that end we need to do a far better job of funding research Universities and research fellows. While it may seem counterintuitive, the best way to encourage that outcome is with vastly lower tax imposts, which as demonstrated in historical examples lead to improved economic outcomes and GDP growth!? See my previous post.

We stand at the dawn of a new industrial revolution, where all the old paradigms will need to be moved away or just junked in favour of something more rational and suited to the new reality. Which will see many of the old occupations disappear and dozens of currently unimaginable highly automated ones taking their place.

Yet we still try to retain ultra costly state governments that may have only been a necessary evil when we had horse drawn carriages, steam trains and telegraph.

Condemning that archaic anachronism to the pages of history would unlock around 70 billions per and without losing a single service or government supplied amenity!

It is really a question of getting the priorities right!

What do we need the most? Fully funded world leading medical research, compromable amenity and infrastructure; or double handling fee demanding obstructionist state governments X 7?
