It's played by Prima Donna's and watched by hooligans. Soccer relies on ethic division and imported talent and even then it's can't get many soccer fans to switch from the English league to watch the A league.

It's the one code that I'm happy to see Australia thrashed at.

Every game or venue is at the mercy of the vagaries of the climate and attendant weather.

Even so and given an Australian context, we need look no further than the Gabba to see how we might present a world class playing surface, inside the budget constraints of, for us and our relatively small population base.
