Deradicalisation in refugee camps and beyond : Comments

By Alon Ben-Meir, published 24/5/2016

Host countries must employ special methods to thwart any infiltration attempts by violent extremists under the guise of being refugees, and develop a countering violent extremism plan that encompasses all aspects of deradicalisation.

What appears on display here seems to be an expectation that the host countries will continue to be host countries! Which is just not a foregone conclusion!

Whereas if radicalized youth full of self pity, blame shifted bitterness and hate, get more violent and less grateful for (taken for granted) christian charity?

All that's likely to happen is they'll kill the goose that lays the golden egg; and see wholesale forced repatriation of all non european migrants and ever increasing isolationism as the only visible or conceivable solution left to Christian Europe?

And given the awesome arsenals of weapons in european armories, a very dangerous turn of events for muslims the world over!?

Who will likely be factored in as the new common enemy? And shown the door or worse!?

Almost every day the hardline right wing nationalists gain more ground and influence in the alleged host countries, and ably assisted by the very radicals discribed in the article!

Alan,
Correct, Liberal Democrats have been able to withstand the Islamic insurgency within EU borders and even use it as leverage against the aspirations of working class parties.
I reject the term "Far right" as it's abundantly clear that Nationalistic parties draw their support almost entirely from mainly young, working class men and women, the close run Austrian presidential elections made that crystal clear.
The European elites and their bourgeoisie though cannot withstand simultaneous working class uprisings, a "home grown" Islamic insurgency and another Islamist assault from immigrant jihadists, that too was demonstrated in the first round of the Austrian presidential elections when the major parties were unceremoniously knocked out of the race.

The West's need to feel guilty about Syrian refugees began in Germany. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immigration_to_Germany#Refugee.2C_Asylum_and_illegal_Immigration_crisis

Since then France and Belgium have been shotup and bombed.

Will small "l" liberal Turnbull (or a politicised ASIO) fall asleep at the wheel - with future killing in Australia?

The author incorrectly assumes the West, including Australia, must bring in war damaged Muslims from Syria-Iraq. There should be no assumption that Australia's Counter-Terrorism resources should be stretched this way. ASIO psychologists can't be perpetual social workers.

Unlike France, Britain, and now Merkel's Germany, we should not make it hard for ourselves.

So the author focusses on young Muslims of 15 to 25 yo.

What about about the 10 year olds or the sons born after their Syrian Muslim parents enter Australia in 2018? It often takes years to become radical.

POSSIBLE SCENARIO

2018 the Australian Department of Immigration clears a Syrian Muslim Couple with kids under 10 to enter Australia.

2018-2023 the traumatised parents with traumatised kids will be rebuilding their lives while on welfare in Australia.

2023 the parents begin to work hard at jobs but have to neglect their young sons and daughters.

2026 - The young sons and daughters, still under 15, may seek identity in some safe but radical groups in the Muslim community in western Sydney or north Melbourne

2027 - Especially the boys are socially isolated at school and home but want to do something for Islam. If you're a 12 year old boy your imagination often isn't on giving alms to the poor, but something more exciting, maybe violent, prompted by the radical group around town, self-appointed preacher or online "friends".

Does Australia need to pick up pieces of bodies in 2027 (or sooner) just because the Germans under Merkel in 2015 decided that small "l" liberal countries should feel guilty about something?

You used the term 'Violent Extremist / Extremism' twice in your description and 14 times in your article.
You never used the term 'Islamic Extremist / Extremism' once.
Is it a conspiracy? Is it because it's not politically correct?
Or are you just scared to say it?

Islamic Extremism.

There, now you don't have to worry.
I said it for you.
