The four tectonic splits within the global left : Comments

By Jonathan Rutherford, published 6/8/2015

Today, the overwhelming majority of the left, either explicitly or implicitly, endorses globalization. A much smaller number oppose it.

The Left taken as a whole is happy to subordinate itself to neo Liberalism and global capitalism, in Australia Left groups enthusiastically support immigration and foreign TNC takeovers, the core elements of the globalist strategy. Leftists actually operate as informal or at least unpaind enforcers and agents for the capitalist elite and devote considerable effort to suppression of dissent and alternative viewpoints critical of their masters.
The last paragraph is what we call "LARPing", the term comes from the pastime of acting out fantasy role playing games in person, replete with costumes and funny accents. Anarchim is a fantasy, a pastime for slackers and those Leftists too thick to comprehend Marx or Mao, try being an Anarch for a few years like I have, it's a gruelling and depressing life because Anarchy is something that's largely forced upon White men and women over 40 in this society. Anarchy is the lifestyle of the neo liberal world's discarded and unwanted people, those who are surplus to requirements, be careful what you wish for, your fantasy "revolution" is going to be your reality eventually.

I have read heaps of garbage in my lifetime, but the comment by Jay easily wins first prize in my rotten moldy cake award.

Meanwhile all of the people and outfits listed on this site are quietly working behind the scenes in a collective attempt to create some kind of human scale and human friendly alternatives in the now everywhere wreckage of human culture inevitably caused by the Western world-machine and its drive to obtain total power-and-control over everyone and everything: http://www.dabase.org/GCF.htm
All of the above people etc are on the left/liberal/progressive side of the culture wars divide.

Yesterday I came across the work of Samuel Alexander via a reference to his new book Prosperous Descent.

Theres many different forms of governments: democracies, dictatorships, republics; capitalist, communist, socialist, theocracy. etc.

I think each has its pro's and con's and that none are perfect.

I like capitalism because a person who is willing to work 12hrs a day is able to get a better reward (in theory) than someone who is only willing to work 8hrs a day.
I like that we can be independent and have the tools to create our own futures.
But I don't support ultra-capitalism; control and manipulation of markets and corporate monopolies.

Socialism has some good points, not as a system of government because it takes the previously mentioned blessings of Capitalism away; but aspects of it.

I like that we have socialist health-care and education.
It provides a base level of heath-care and education to all citizens. Spending money on this is preferable to living with rampant crime, which would be the result of removing these mechanisms, plus it makes us a moral nation by taking care of those who most need it, and serves to give everyone a chance of success and happiness.

Democracy has its good and bad points.
The majority determine the path of the future, but 51% of the people can take the rights of the other 49% away at any time. For this reason I like the idea of a Republic with a Bill of Rights that cannot be taken away by the 51%.

Even Dictatorships have their good points.
Tell me one dictator who thought it was a good idea to sell of the national assets of their country?
We think democracy is great but everyone else owns all our stuff. That's not so great.

What is the pinnacle of Capitalism?
Blatent Consumerism?

That we must create hundreds of different models of cars and mobile phones to satisfy our need for freedom and individualism?

The challenge I believe is to take all the good things from each and get rid of the bad from each and create a system that is better for all of us.

Daffy Duck,
LARPing in other words, fantasy activism, workshops and book readings, Ted Trainor & co aren't even real Leftists, they're post christian protestants, trust me on this, I was raised by and among such people.
See racism and nationalism (or even neo Bolshevism) could solve the problems created by globalisation in one five year plan. Ethnic cleansing, nationalisation of resources and iron curtains are quick, effective and in the long run relatively painless for all concerned.
The Left actively oppose all final solutions to the problem of globalised capitalism and unanimously support it's central aims, open borders, multiculturalism and the destruction of all national characteristics.

Mostly agree with Armchair, and can only add , we need to replace destructive, rat eat rat, extreme capitalism with cooperative capitalism; and attacking poverty in all its forms and guises, wherever we find it for the worst reasons of all?

Namely, personal greed, given as each impoverished nation is hauled up out of endemic generational poverty, they can and do become our future trading partners!? China?

To date capitalism has been the only effective instrument to lift millions out of poverty; meanwhile, the extreme versions plunge them back into it! Ireland, Spain, Iceland?

Incidentally the loony tune green movement with its demented "covert agenda", has more in common with dictatorial command and control communism than genuine socialism/social democracy?

And their ascent to power by any and all (dance with the devil) means; [something else they have in common with communism,] would, I believe, destroy any modern economy it touches?
