The AFP and all Australian security forces should have the best means available to them to 'spy' on undesirables wishing to harm us. It doesn't matter who else uses the same thing or how they use it. The inference that Australian authorities would misuse these tools is insulting and ridiculous. But, then, there are these Australians who do seem more concerned with the "rights" of our enemies than they are with our own.

I suppose one could make a rational case for hacking which remains a criminal offence when used against the government and or it agencies; but not so when those same agencies used it to spy on the ordinary citizen.

Who are entitled to their most basic human right of privacy and harmless predilections or flaws?

Its already enough that marketing companies have access to our metadata to in effect, allow them to target our preferences or viewing habits/peccadilloes, without our inherent right to privacy, but particularly, inside our own homes being secretly violated by, not criminal hackers, but the AFP, in shades of 1984 and big brother!

Who in their hypothecated activities may be no better than the criminal element they are charged with protecting us from?

Or is it a case of in a proper police action, hacking the hackers, or those who lift our metadata uninvited, for mere merchandising purposes alone, with vastly superior and completely covert equipment?
I'd like to think the latter was the case!

Earth to Murray.

Yes possibly 100s of companies sell malware for legitimate and legal law enforcement use.

That includes agencies in Malaysia the country you live in - including https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Malaysia_Police .

Looking forward to you outing the human rights record of Malaysian authorities.

Murray Hunter says the AFP must be asked the following questions:

1.Why does the AFP need offensive software or cyber weapons?
2.Who were they used against, and why?
3.Why did the Australian Government deal with companies that had little or no concern about human rights?
4.Why did the AFP terminate the contract with Hacking Team when this information was about to become public knowledge?

I'll answer those question for you, because you aren't going to get a reply from the AFP (but they might now hack into your server)

1. Well duh, what do you think its used for?
2. None of your business Nosey Parker. You know operational matters are not revealed publically.
3. The company probably had the best software package for the tasks required. Why let the nasty countries get the leading edge, just for principals?
4. Are you certain there is a relationship between the two events?

Hey Murray your turn to answer - would you be happier knowing potential terrorists and spies are able to hack into our security, but because we take the high moral ground, we have no ability to hack into theirs?

I thought big brother and its unique opportunity was to create an environment where you have full control of their respective fields.

Governments watching their own personal experiences, which makes a good leader in providing the economy importance of everything collective.

Iam just wondering if anyone has the underlying asset's to why things have to be contacted via social media in order to have gravity in political message's.
