Are churches playing Big Brother? : Comments

By Mal Fletcher, published 22/6/2015

Facebook encourage us all to become completely open in a sort of cult of transparency. Churches should be leading the call for greater protections on privacy.

A thought provoking article, but it might miss the point regarding an obvious need for genuine security in the church building: Keeping in mind the recent Charlston Church massacre.
The fact cannot be ignored that sadly, the Christain Church is the focus of extremist anti Christian sentiment .
As opposed to this article, I believe the church has a need for technological security alert systems.

I don't see what the big deal is here, we go into shopping centers or even to get personal service at our banks and they have cameras watching us. Those cameras are not recording our faces?? I don't think so, they record our faces. So what? life goes on... if your that paranoid, better to not get out of bed in the morning and greet today's world.

PRIVACY was that which allowed pedophiles to engage in their secret activities with complete impunity!

And therefore, no to more privacy inside the churches!

Besides, what do these so called public facilities and or publicly funded organisations have to hide/need to hide?

Their undeclared untaxed income and actual ability to compensate their considerable victims perhaps?

And can the children who attend those churches give legal consent to be under Church surveillance?

This is of concern because a current Royal Commission includes the issue of churchmen stalking the children that they victimise.

But if God can see into our hearts and knows our every thought, isn't Church surveillance at best redundant or worse demonstrating a lack of faith?
