Even the most highly educated, wealthiest, or most cultured parent would have great difficulty with the depth and breadth of a typical Year 12 student’s subjects.

All that has been proven I dare say, is that kids who come from areas of economic adversity don't do as well as the private schools, or those of schools not subject to the skimming; opps sorry, admin fees of state government providers? Meaning i.e., a identical school hall will likely cost as much as 30% less for a Catholic community, than a state administered service? And a good template to use when creating a Government Education service?

And the best argument yet put for means testing all government assistance, and indeed, see that such (means tested) funding as so supplied; accompanies the student rather than this or that school or particular school administration!

And that being so, entirely eliminate the profit demanding middle men/skimmers/poor performers; suddenly thrust into a world where they have no other choice than excel or follow the Dodo!?

And indeed accept apples for apples comparative benchmark and best practice outcomes!

Excellent well done research! More power to your pen!

Reading the PISA report, among its conclusions was that the results of an individual child was strongly related to its peer group at school, which is largely responsible for the improvement of results of children of similar abilities at independent schools compared to public schools in the same area.

Smart parents send their kids to the same school as other smart kids, so they get better results.
