The Arab states must realize that the root causes of radicalization are embedded in their internal socio-economic and political disorder.

ISIS is the revival of the "classical" Islam so beloved of western Liberals, this is exactly what the "golden age", the "convivienca" looked like. Given the naturally mean and weak constitution and low median IQ of Arabs and West Asians the only way peace will fall over the region is under a totalitarian caliphate or monarchy. The Middle East's tribes of dumb quarrelsome people need ruthless top down rule and a life restricted by work and prayer from the moment they awake to the moment they lay down at night, otherwise chaos ensues as they can't manage their own emotions much less their own communities. The real battlefield in the region is genetics and tribal tradition, the author is right in asserting the futility of outside military intervention where only harsh eugenic measures will suffice.

The regime that Jay of Melbourne prescribes is precisely what these tribal savages inflict on themselves and one another. It generates millions of refugees who flood to civilised countries, many of them setting up Fifth Columns bent on rolling back what the Enlightenment has brought to the civilisations that they infiltrate with their "cultures" (plural). The answer is NOT to encourage their contempt for the human rights of the individual (and in particular the right of dissent and the rights of women) and NOT to urge them to make their theocratic rule total as in Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Rather, it's to isolate and drive out the Fifth Columns and to confine the right to immigrate to those who convincingly renounce the Sharia strictures of Islam and the tribal loyalties of the pest houses from which they came. And it's NEVER to pursue geopolitical objectives in their lands.
