Barry, until you understand and come to terms with the economic calculation argument, it just means that you don't understand what you're talking about, and are operating at the intellectual level of Pol Pot.

A very erudite thoughtful thought provoking article, that was a pleasure to read. And explains why Carl Marx himself could never have been labeled a Marxist, in the common term use of the word.

Yes, without question the uneven distribution of wealth is central to both the great depression and the later GFC, as prime causative factors.

If for example, we made profit sharing or share holding work forces mandatory; a number of thing would happen, there'd be a massive spike in production and the usual drones given the bums rush!

The PM is to be complimented for sticking to his guns regarding workforce participation as intending shareholders; and patent pragmatism personified!

And think, the cooperative, is the only free market, capitalistic concept, that largely survived the great depression intact.

Extreme capitalism and communism share one huge fault; they both need a measure of virtual slavery to keep them alive and well.

I know of at least one example, where a failing and virtually insolvent Brazilian business was converted to a co-op by its desperate owner, as a means of keeping the wolves, the "wife" and the banking fraternity at bay!?

The result was a complete turnaround, and the now golf tournament following former owner, able to pursue his passion due to the massive turnaround in his fortunes, just by dint of giving control of his factory to his former employees/now partners.

The record of enduring success includes including a creche, a school, and a housing co-op for the now quite wealthy workforce.

People with more money just help the money go round that is any western style economy/exponentially expand that economy, whereas, concentrated in fewer and fewer hoarding hands, creates endless self perpetuating contraction; and many more of us forced to work for slave labor wages.

It has got to a point in just too many cases, where keeping an unpaid slave would cost more, than the slave wages some think is okay to pay, so long as those same standards/pay scales, are never ever applied to them or theirs!
