Many more people are talking about ice buckets than motor neurone disease or cancer.

Perfect example of finding something positive in the world and trying really really hard to complain about something negative.

Stezza,
Don't you mean trying really hard to avoid doing something to lessen the negativity ?

With any fad you are going to get idiots that try to out do everyone else and get themselves hurt or killed. That is what natural selection is all about.

I think this was successful beyond the sponsor's dreams. Look forward to dozens of Lame copy cats.

shadow minister,
Too bad that our Laws are against natural selection, hence us having to keep so many useless in better conditions than ourselves. Yeah, democracy is really Great !

I think this is a hugely good idea; particularly for politicians, who just go on and on, deceiving the voter, and or leaving a trail of broken promises.
For them I have one simple "real man" test.
Take a bucket of extremely cold water, with just a few ice cubes!
Make a will leaving all your money and worldly goods to the aforementioned charity!
Then put the head in three times and pull it out twice, to then try to drink your way out of the very bottom of the bucket!
And I make this promise.
The world will be a far better place for this effort, but particularly if it fails, as it should.
I offer the same "real man" test to President Putin, Isis, and Hamas "men"; all of them, but with a much bigger bucket!
The charity in their case would be orphaned Palestinian/Syrian/Iraqi women and children!

Besides, its only in the developed world that we can waste precious potable water on a stupid stunt. For a real challenge, why doesn't the celebs one up each other on the amount they donate? Of course not, they get other to pay for them.
