A direct federal full funding model, and vastly more autonomy, would save around 30% of current expenditure, as would a direct funding model of all public health!
Further significant savings would accrue, by adding in means testing!
The states would bleat about states rights, while ignoring the savings!
Ditto a return to unpaid voluntary regional boards, controlling most public amenities?
Given it is the taxpayer that funds both public health and most education, then surely they alone should be the final arbiter, of how we/they pay the bills!
At the end of the day, he who pays the piper calls the tune; and to date, state govts, which by the way, cost the taxpayer 70 billions per, just for their actual existence, have just been a gift-wrapped source of most of the (tip of the iceberg) official corruption that so besets this country!
