What coalition-friendly media? Your A to Z guide : Comments

By Ben-Peter Terpstra, published 14/3/2014

From sassy blogs to shout-y commercial radio stations, Australia's right-wing media organs aren't shy when it comes to promoting socially conservative and/or free market values.

When I returned to Australia after living overseas I found the media offerings stultifyingly conformist. Dreadful papers, dreadful TV, and the ABC tediously in love with political correctness. Radio? didn't listen.

The newsstand one day gave me a shock - I found Quadrant and IPA Review challenging the pieties of the conformist, group-think mainstream media.

The Web offered exciting choices - Arts and Letters Daily, Instapundit, Tim Blair Blog, and forums like old Matilda.

Thanks for this new list - lots more to look at, but its also interesting to see the gaps. The big one for me is the few rational leftists, such as those Labor people who write for the Australian. It is definitely important for Right-Wing Death Beasts to break the echo chamber by reading and testing the countering views on the major issues.

Otherwise we turn into mindless hate-bots like leftist activists.

LOL this is great, it really demostrates some deep seated problems for conservatives. Low on facts and high on Opinion.
a greate example Y for youtube: headless chook 400K hits while wreakingball Abbott has got nearly 900K.. tell me again how youtube's working out for you.

How about the pairing up of Hillsong and Charlie Pickering two comic acts but only one know it's.

Some basic themes News Corp ( one of the worlds biggest porn producers), 2GB (fact free radio), Christains (anit-science anit-reality).
This what makes up Australia's right wing tent.

The last time I looked it was a free country, that still tolerated freedom of speech and or opinion. Even if some of it, was clearly off the planet!
And no, I wasn't referring to Helen Bones or Harry Lynch Bob Exclusively!
After that, I think younger Australians are much more media savvy, and far less swayed by patently, politically biased media?
Only those who've lost the ability to think for themselves, need this kind of assistance? Worked very well in prewar Germany, didn't it? Jawol?
Political parties, at the end of the day, need and should be judged solely on their performance, and policy paradigms, rather than the froth and lip speckle, of gormless, blinkered, mindless, highly opinionated, media type Ideologues.
Labor will lose the next elections, (game set and match,) in both SA and Tasmania, for very good reasons, and less than competent management, rather than the opinions that drench our airways, or the opinions of media opinion writers, or media barons!
Given Labors' records, a drovers dog could beat them, without doing any more, than promising not to be labor, or repeat their disastrous green influenced/manipulated polices?
Rhrosty.

Thanks Ben
What a great list. For info on how the labor party is destructing I only have to read articles by former labor leaders and senators and a few of it's current incompetents.

A reading of the union websites, eg actu, cfmeu, twu, awu etc tells me what the ABC and Bill Shorten are going to say.

Well, ABC is already taken care of for the left. Add SMH and AGE and that's a third of the alphabet already. But it's a little bit naughty to co-opt Jo Nova under 'J', since the only issue that links her with conservatism is her scepticism about global warming -- a scepticism that more and more people on both sides of the political spectrum are rapidly coming to share.

If the people and outfits listed by Ben are the best sources of so called conservative opinion etc in Australia then both Australia and civilization altogether are in deep trouble.

This one stark image summarizes the world-view or paradigm that these people essentially promote:
http://www.dartmouth.edu/~spanmod/mural/panel21.html

Except that we now live in a completely different world than that in which the artist who created this mural lived.
There are now many more billions of human beings all wanting to live the "good life" as advertised/propagandized on TV, and our technologies are far more powerful, especially our war-making technologies.

Never mind too that we are now living in a humanly created world that combines the nightmare scenarios prophesied and described by both Aldous Huxley in Brave New World, and George Orwell in 1984.
