The Golden Age of Gas, possibly : Comments

By James Stafford, published 14/2/2014

The International Energy Agency (IEA)-the 'global energy authority' - believes that this age of gas can be golden, and that unconventional gas can be produced in an environmentally acceptable way.

Countries that have useful but clearly limited amounts of hydrocarbons (oil and gas) should save them for later not export them. That applies now to east Australian gas and US oil from fracking. A decade from now that may also apply to the Middle East and Russia. Because of the versatility and energy density of hydrocarbons they will be hard to replace. For example the aviation industry could collapse without liquid fuels. Here in Australia with our growing oil import dependence compressed natural gas CNG could be a good diesel replacement in trucks and buses. Why then should export that commodity so eastern Australia runs out of gas in 20 years?

0h dear sounds like a blurb..FOR COMMERCE
OR MORE FREE PORTS OR MORE GOVT PAYED FOR PIPELINES
[OR SOME OTHER 'GRAND-ScEME/just needing govt tax money/licence/grant.

GAS=AN ENERGY RESOURCE
ITS BEST USE IS LOCALY...like harvesting methane..at tips

FORGET PIPING IT TO PORTS..'for export'
there are micro pockets of it..all over the plaCE
SURE NOT ENOUGH TO EXPORT..BUT ENOUGH TO USE THE CHEAP..ENERGY..[ON SITE]..value adding..[LOCAL*..JOBS..jobs jobs

THINK LIKE
WE USED TO HAVE private/WELLS..private bores..for water
you had your own..didnt need buy it..from no one/..BUT re gas..we have..ENOUGH TO SMELT ORE..OR FREEZE FOOD OR WARM ETC..VALUE ADD..etc

WITH NEAR FREE GAS LOCALY.
FORGET YOU MULTINATIONALS..SCALE IT DOWN
SEE YOU got energy..locally..what its best use..near where it is.

or run the delivery truck..for free
to reduce transport costs..get smarter..compete..we have the gas energy here..WHAT WILL SOMEONE PAY..TO USE IT..[the parts are worth more than the sum total.]

ps no matter how good a well..some leakage is expected
just burning it off..may fool some..but dont go saying it dont 'glabal warm'..gAS ..is a very high cost greenhouse gas[20 times worse than co2]..and that solar cell cleaning GAS [to clean SOLARCELLS]..is 200 times worse than ANY c02

BUT THEN..again..we got free energy..[like magnetic MOTERS]
THAT GENERATE..free energy..for decades[solar energy..could be converted into gas/..[they pay US 6 CENTS..FOR IT..[others get 60 cents..BUT HOW MUCH WILL IT CONVERT INTO GAS And oxigen..[im sure the cost benefit is there..somewhere.

but share the wealth..youir with us or against us
be nice we become nice..but rip US OFF YOUR needing to spend money on spin meisters..we all know is just spin.

cheers..WE ARE SICK..OF YOUR..NEEDING US
TO BUY YOUR FREE LUNCH/PORTS PIPES..GAS/MINERALS ETC..GOVT SHOULD BE THERE FOR all..of US..NOT just..tou few mutinationalsl

not just for YOU..few.

Well, we could if we were smart, digest all waste in a smell free locally invented two tank systems to produce endlessly sustainable gas; which after scrubbing, can be used in ceramic fuel cells to produce energy. Most families produce enough waste to completely power there homes, ditto most high rise apartment buildings! And the addition of food scraps and waste, creates a salable surplus!
And we can use our copious NG, for similar virtual carbon free outcomes.
Even CSG can be exploited for this purpose, and the water used for a variety of commercial farming purposes.
Even very salt water can be pumped around underground in membrane covered agpipes.
There are many plant species with greater pulling power than pumps.
And if all or some of the envisaged crop production takes place under glass, then the pristine evaporate can be easily recovered and reused, time and again, wherever practicable. Possibly in fish farms or fodder factories, or for human or animal consumption?
I believe that climate change is real, and we should be taking such steps as available to us to counteract it, all while reaping handsome profits or reducing our often exorbitant energy bills, or both.
Gas and the gas consuming ceramic cell would possibly allow us to envisage gas powered and therefore quickly refillable electric cars.
And something we could market to millions in the emerging economies, who have developed horrific smog problems. We already lead the world in molded carbon fibre!
Economies of scale and cheaper than coal thorium, would allow us to mass produce them here and export to the rest of the world.
We could also envisage similarly powered fast trains and trams, without overhead wires; and indeed, virtually all mass transit of transport systems, powered by similar smart carbon free combinations.
Replace the self serving stinkers in the corporate world and politics with thinkers, and all of this becomes virtually possible overnight!
