Do not believe the Government's rhetoric about cutting tax and stopping waste, at least not yet.

The author needs to read the JD Alt article mentioned in my comment on the PM's Davos speech publish at Online Opinion today.
Deficit spending always makes sense when there are underutilised resources in an economy operating under a sovereign, money issuing, government, particularly if the government is prepared to take other actions to minimise inflation when necessary.

It is crazy to be talking about cutting taxes and improving efficiencies in their usage for as long as we have an extremely rapid increase in the demand for things that our taxes are spent on!

The imperative to slow the rate of increase in the demand for the duplication of health services, education, roads, houses, water, food and practically all other services, infrastructure, goods and resources has surely got to be a fundamental part of taxation policy.

Hence, greatly reducing immigration and heading towards a stable population has everything to do – and enormously so – with the development of a better taxation paradigm.
