If every village has an idiot, and if Sydney is a village, then the idiot without peer is surely the former media giant, Fairfax.

Hard to disagree with any of this, which really ought to be required reading for any aspiring journo or editor, or indeed, intending publisher!
At some point, those who combined to ruin Fairfax, or use it to further their own political aspirations?
Ought to have to pay a financial price for the "deliberate" harm they've done, to ordinary mum and dad investors!?

" But she saves the highest praise for the actions and foresight of Kerry Packer's son, James. And if the facts are as she states them, then the praise is certainly justified."

Hi Shalmaneser,

You are quite right about the OneTel debacle and Williams does mention that James Packer took it very hard and subsequently fled to Southern California.

My point is that Williams did not ignore this chapter in his life. She recounted it and moved on to other matters.

Perhaps I should have mentioned it in my piece?
