Why you shouldn't feel guilty for following the Boston Marathon bombings : Comments

By Brendan Lawley, published 26/4/2013

Because it's racist or short-sighted to care about what is happening in America and not what is happening in Iraq, we actually shouldn't care about any of it?

Are well - this article gets one comment.

The prominently placed four letter word (one can't repeat it in Comments) certainly lifts the tone of the author's article, but many would see it as a flippant way to headstone death and injuries.

No, it was sick voyeurism because two white people were killed and that is all.

Yeah Marilyn

"sick voyeurism" sums up the bombers' motives and the pigeon-holing of apparent home-grown terrorism as an attack on the state - usually drawing an inordinately large, expensive and violent response from the US.

I don't think Obama can afford an Iraq style invasion (Chechnya being unhappily in the Russian orbit) but a rise in drone killings in northern Africa, Yemen, Afghanistan and Pakistan over the next few months may well happen.

Marilyn Shepherd,
I wonder what you reply would have been if two Aboriginals from say Greenland or some other far away land were killed. What is your feeling then about the many innocent Muslims killed all over the place. Does your appalling lack of integrity extent to them ?
Your' 2 bob babbles are no longer valid currency. You'd better move up to the decimal system if you want to come across as a little intelligent. Btw, a little restraint on your racist rants would go along way too.

Because of the U.S., most Australians don't even bother to read about massacres and drone deaths in foreign lands. But they are immediately attentive when Yanks are killed especially on their home soil.

Yeah, dead Yanks, like dead Israeli Jews, are not fair game even when both these nations engage frequently in killing sprees.

Of course, when Yanks murder each other (Sandy Hook, etc), we are rather ambivalent, don't know what to think. I mean, the idea of Americans being killers only happens in violent crime movies where they usually end up dead after having been shot so full of holes that they become transparent.

When Yanks kill folk in other lands, we pretend not to notice. When they drone 12 Afghan kids and most of their parents we avert our eyes to another headline and mutter, "Thank God For America!"

Since 1945, the Yanks have killed millions of people, most of them civilians. They put Hitler to shame. Why are Australians so uncaring
about this endless slaughter?

I guess when terrorists come to our shores and wreak mayhem, we may have to change our attitudes and stop encouraging the Yanks in their bloody imperialism.

We might even have to condemn them, tell them fair suck of the saveloy!

Imagine that. But finding an Australian with wit, morality and backbone won't be easy.

this is the same as saying we should not report paedophille among Catholic Priest because its rife in indigeneous communities. Brendan should let his 'Áge' mates know this.
