A register of foreign investment in agriculture will do nothing to improve the debate unless it includes what we are really worried about.

Quite frankly, I believe, the author's argument at best fundamentally flawed and at worst bizarre? It's almost as contentious as say, too big to fail, or privatise the profits and socialise the losses?
Local supply and demand factors alone should decide the price of anything; but particularly productive land, rather than to be quite artificially hiked up with foreign capital, borrowed and therefore adding exponentially to our already record trillion dollar plus/plus foreign debt burden!
Which we and we alone, will no doubt pay for in full, via premium prices at the checkout; and or, reduced tax revenues; and or, exported profits; and or, outsourcing on a hitherto unprecedented scale; and or, all of the foregoing?
All for the personal benefit/vested/need for greed interest, of just one or two players; or the usual plethora, of entirely unproductive profit taking middle men?
