Palestine & percentages : Comments

By David Faber, published 25/9/2012

Indeed the so called `Jordanian option' beloved of the extreme ultra-Zionist hard right has been tried from 1948-1970 when Jordan ruled the West Bank, and comprehensively failed.

Hello David, finally it is great to read a piece of literature that goes to the heart of the matter, and for some this truth will hurt.

I await, with baited breath, Mr David Singer responding to this article, his absence to date is deafening and evidence of the truth in this article.

I fail to see how a response from Singer in anyway validates the truth or otherwise of this submission??

Nice ideas, I really like the potential outcome and I don't like Zionism either. However, I am not convinced of the practicality of this approach: can you actually PROVE that the Israelis will not be thrown into the sea?

Otherwise, even if you show a 99% chance that they won't, I am not willing to take the 1% chance that my family will be thrown into the sea. Sorry, nothing to do with exclusivity and everything to do with survival.

Instead, give Israelis a small state, anywhere, tiny as it may be, but all of their own, which they can defend with the best weapons they have. I'm afraid nothing less guarantees the safety of my family.

It's very easy to predict what will happen to the Jews in Israel should they ever become the minority there. The same thing that happened to them in every single Arab country where Jews were a minority. Half of the Jewish families currently living in Israel were forcibly thrown out of Arab lands, my wife's family among them. And it's not a problem limited to Jews either. Christianity is in rapid decline in every Middle Eastern country with the exception of Israel, where the Christian population growth rate has outpaced the Jewish growth rate for the past 12 years.
