By James Adams, published 10/7/2012

If Fairfax journalists were younger and less insular Fairfax newspapers might still have a bright future.

How sad.
What does he tell us.
It is essentially an auto-biographical description of his own prejudices and bitterness. That he is a poor helpless put upon victim of all the nasty politically correct journalists that write for the Fairfax press, and thus by extension all of the left-liberal-progressive-feminist-green-etc-etc "elites". Even of the entire modern world atogether. That the proper place for women is kinder, kuche, kircher, and having roast duck for Sunday dinner

Sad that what could have been a more balanced article appears to be an unbalanced diatribe largely against women.

Hi James, once we are past your own rant, all we are left with the fact that you give demographics as an excuse for failed journalists. If journalists cannot keep relevant with todays real world then they are doomed.

The loss of 90% of the value of Fairfax is the real measure of their talent. What caused this is the content itself and not the excuse for that content.

If Fairfax were just a mirror/mirror on the wall.
Most of this author's hyper critical rambling rant, would very likely be well placed or shot home.
We wonder why the world is in the place it is today?
The answer my friend, is too many young men/juveniles, at the helm of industry and or the financial sector, and much too much mood altering testosterone, involved in the risk taking decision making process.
Which by the way, in excess, often produces so-called chrome domes in relatively young men.
Fairfax's decline probably has more to do with management decisions and Editorial control and or comment, than the band of hard-working Journalists, who try to report the news.

Fairfax has of course embraced the new religion of Anthropogenic Global Warming, which unfortunately has no more foundation in fact than any of the old religions. The relentlessness with which they push the AGW party line is matched only by the relentlessness with which they ignore retractions, corrections and contrary findings. Unless they can recover some journalistic integrity, then I'm quite happy for Gina Rinehart -- or anyone else -- to put us out of their misery.

What else would you expect?

Management can't tell these fools what to write, the lefties won't allow that.

Management can't get rid of any of the dead heads, the lefties won't allow it, at least with out it being so ruinously expensive that bankruptcy would result any way.

Management can't hire any suitable youngsters, as the old lefties teach in the schools & lecture in the universities, turning out mostly fresh faced new editions of themselves.

The only answer is bankruptcy, followed with young lean organisations, not carrying all the baggage. Should work for a few years.
