By Marko Beljac, published 5/3/2012

It wasn't just Labor but perhaps the world, that Rudd treated with contempt.

Yes, it was fascinating to watch the media go along with Rudd's attempt to rewrite his first downfall as due to jealousy rather than his own manifest incompetence. What a shame, though, that one megalomaniac Foreign Minister has merely been replaced by another! There must be something about the job which attracts those who are low on talent and high on self-esteem.

...Politicians just don’t get it! Don’t they understand the public contempt in which they are "ALL" held?

Rudd is an interesting phenomenon but is he the aberration?

It would be easy to think others in the party were better placed to lead and fail to recognise Rudd is the norm. Rudd and Gillard happen to be the current actors in the roles; the roles will go on long after those individuals depart with much the same rhetoric and emotions and claims of “peace in our time” and machinations fuelled by ego!

Rudd’s challenge appears as much to be of Crean’s creation, a supporter of Gillard, as it is of Rudd – how much was the vote a pre-emptive strike by Gillard and/or her supporters. All the players are positioning all the time.

A previous comment pointing to all politicians being held in contempt by the public is to the damnation of the public not the politicians. Politicians reflect the ethics and morality of electors. Those who make such claims need to consider what they are doing to address this; yes, the politicians have faults – no, the public have a greater fault as they permit it by inaction. As an allegory everyone whinges about banks’ charges but no one moves their accounts to Bendigo or a building society or some other such institution – stop complaining and do something.

Acting in a Minister’s shoes taught me all believe their view of outcomes required is the only one to follow and all others are folly, usually all are very opposed to each other. No one accommodates to others’ needs and interests. Ministers and other politicians are a “wicket on to a hiding”.

Carr’s elevation to Foreign Minister is but another entry in the spin of politics –Carr is but another face filling the same role as those before him, the process will reinforce the ‘Juliar' perception.

The flaw is we believe we are here to look after ourselves; to be served not serve. Whilst that life value prevails get used to the current political process; the players are temporary faces who will be replaced by clones – the same game will go on forever.

But the morons in the ALP had no evidence of anything to use against Rudd.

Why is it that every cretin with an IQ of 4 is allowed now to demonise Rudd?

This demonising from a man kicked off the refugee review tribunal for supporting torture is undignified.

Rudd's problem was that he really is the smartest man in the room.

You are plain wrong Marko.

Kevin Rudd has always spoken about challenging the power of the factions. In his victory speech in 2007 he said it plainly.

The need to modernise and democratise the ALP is not an idea Rudd just pulled from thin air in the recent leadership debacle. Haven't you been listening and following the news about how Senator Faulkner and others did a comprehensive study and report on the need to make the very changes Rudd was saying are needed.

You are just joining the conga line in having a go at Rudd because you see denigrating Rudd as easy pickings. You didn't even bother to do any research.

I agree with what Marilyn Shepherd's statement.

Marko, it is you who has the delusion of grandeur.

<< But the morons in the ALP had no evidence of anything to use against Rudd. >>

What??

Hells bells Marilyn, you are amazing!

You should be holding Rudd in absolute contempt. He is the fool, for want of a stronger word, who blew apart Howard’s border protection policy and allowed thousands of onshore asylum seekers to again make their way to this country on rickety boats… with the loss of how many lives, so far?

Several hundred!

It was pretty damn obvious that corrupting border-protection policy would have resulted in just that - people dying at sea while trying to get here.

Come on Marilyn, there is a MUCH better way to help refugees – by increasing our international aid, especially aimed at the causal factors of refugeeism, and by boosting the refugee intake within our immigration program.

How on earth can you be both a supporter of refugees and a Rudd sympathiser??

It boggles my mind!
