Unfortunately for Australia, pokies reform is just one of many areas of policy reform that is being avoided by MP Gillard in support of private interests over national interests. In foreign policy, Gillard and her estranged foreign minister Rudd, continue to align with discredited ultra nationalists in the Hellenic Republic over Macedonia's legitimate constitutional name for the sake of some elusive votes. Australia's reputation on the world stage suffers because it is widely seen to be opportunistic and unethical for following a flawed deligitimisation campaign of a country that is on the verge of financial and political bankruptcy. Over 133 countries have recognised the Republic of Macedonia under its constitutional name including the USA, Canada, China, Russia, India, Turkey, Israel and others. Australia should do so without delay as this is in its national and international interest.
