By Paul Mitchell, published 15/11/2011

No apprentice or student could legally be exposed to the bullying that is reality television.

I agree that X factor has sunk to a new low. I was outraged with the attack on Mitchell and the way they put down contenders. The way Guy spoke to Mitchell was totally inappropriate and if the conversation had to be had it should have been in private. I did note though how the contenders looked up to Mitchell - I did wonder if perhaps he was acting like the big-brother-protector - perhaps behind the scene issues.

I am also concerned at the way Declan seemed to lose his sparkle and joy in life.

As a woman, I am also deeply offended at the way the 2 female judges perved on Johnny Ruffo, continually asking him to show them his bare chest again. The lewd remarks would not not be tolerated if the genders were reversed. It would not be tolerated for a man to speak to a woman like that.

I think it is time to change the format of these shows and boot out these nasty, petty judges.

Another genre of TV show I choose not to watch is where one or two contestants are ritually thrown out, thrown to the dogs, every week, sometimes by vote of 'judges', sometimes by vote of other contestants. Whatever. Disgusting and nasty.
