Greener than spring it won’t get: The Green party in the German political landscape : Comments

The German Greens face a credibility crisis if the nuclear phaseout is halted or seen to be self defeating. By the latter I mean building new coal plants, importing more Russian gas or nuclear electricity from France or increasing the renewables subsidy to excessive levels. As in Australia the Greens Party vote seems to be a way of registering concern for the future. That support may be conditional on results. If after one or two parliamentary terms those results don't materialise then perhaps the Greens phenomenon will subside. The major parties will absorb the key ideas without the extremes.
