Sorting American interests and priorities in the South China Sea : Comments

The security situation in the South China Sea is deteriorating in ways unseen since the mid-1990s. Given the growth in China’s military power and global influence, America needs to sort out its interests and priorities.

I didn't know where this article was going - was it edging towards declaring American war - in defence of Filipino interests (Hello?) against China.

While I'm sure Australia would ally itself to America's righteous adventure...

I don't think risking World War III for a resource grab (of the Spratly Islands and others) by the Philippines (not high on the ally totem) would be even worth two months destruction by America's military machine.
