Kevin Rozzoli was a straight-shooter in a NSW Parliament which suffered allegations of a Country Party planning minister creating "a climate conducive to corruption". Kevin is a warrior for honesty and accountability and this is a brilliant piece

I have noticed often over the last few years that there seems to be a system of collusion between the Labor and Liberal parties, where one of the parties looses power over one of its intentions, the other party, when winning Government, reapplies it into Parliament, and it gets passed. The tax on mining exports is a close example of cooperation. I do not like our present system, the parties are either for or against a good economical government, and I think that it is essential for all the parties to work with that in mind. There is only one condition for that, the members of the party – and I say The Party , because it has to be a party working in unison to provide a successful economy and living conditions for the people, and I mean All The People, not just the rich who do have almost unrestricted access to increasing their incomes without any attempt by the politicians in parliament to limit them or their incomes. I do not see any reason not to claim that the members of political parties are a bit less in the integrity scope, and also in the intelligent area, and yet they get elected into parliament with the intent to always oppose all aspects being on the table. In any ordinary committee any person can oppose a motion proposed, and those of the committee will decide it depending on its merit. Our version of the Westminster system is very stupid, and the people who get into Parliament show that they are no improvement to it. The evidence is in many things, the recession, the inability of working families to buy and hang onto a home, and despite the large number of these, there are a fairly large number of people who can demand obscene, unreal salaries and other incomes, thanks to what can only be described as moron treasurers and other members of parliament, and going back about forty years.

I had to laugh at one of our close neighbour's "democracy" where only one party was allowed to be voted for. Then I realised that our system functions effectively as a "two party" system.
I guess this means that corporations need to bribe, sorry "donate" to two parties instead of one, but the result seems to be much the same as single party.
Now that both parties have abandoned any balance and are more similar than different, I wonder if Merv might be onto something.
After one of the most regressive decades in history, why is it that progressive economics, known to assist growth and strengthen nations is simply off the table? (A. the government is a puppet to vested interests and no longer enforces transparency, professionalism or honour.)
Good article.

Q, what are the 2 scariest words in the Australian political language?

A, Bipartisan approach.

Whenever we have heard those words in the past, over 90% of the population got screwed.

Kevin Rizzoli,

Your observations on the workings of the Queensland government are valid for any one of the innumerable governments of this country and for any government operating on the planet.

The doctrine of separation of powers has as much sense as any doctrine.

The very word ‘doctrine’ reeks of rule, of imposition from a distant godly authority.

Political Power is power and like money it means business, short sighted, bloody business.

How this power that we call political came to be is a question that no one wishes to analyze, and less than anyone Academics, Lawyers and Politicians who are the officiators for the ones who seize Political Power.

Political Power, Sir, is a disease, not of the ones who grab it at any opportunity but a disease of the ones who let it go from their grasp.

Think, Sir, that times and times kings (dictators) have been deposed and soon after others have taken the position of the deposed.

Pray, Sir, save your submissions to the ones in power and direct your attention to the ones who let go of their vote to charlatans.

The Vote is Power, Political Power, Money and who rents his money without an executable mortgage deserves to be despoiled of money dignity and, as we know, life.

Discovery through exposure and its retribution awaits pre-election for those who do not deliver real transparency and accountability within their real planning polices and pronouncements, not just another hand over fist job. That means this time mates and the greens can't hide behind public or local council regulations or evidence which has failed so far to see the light of day.
