People always achieve saintly status on their death including many very rich business tycoons whose past fraudulent shenanigans are soon forgotten.

Fact is Elizabeth Taylor had a certain odd appeal but was highly overrated as an actress, a supposedley mean spirited person (perhaps bought on by her painful afflictions) and while she did good works for charity groups especially for AIDS, she was part of a Hollywood era that mindlessly fostered idolisation of celebrities who frankly had lost touch with the real world.

Some people are just famous for being famous. What have they really contributed? It is great to see a good movie and entertainment is part of life, but no more important than science, medicine and spiritual enlightenment (religious or otherwise). Celebrities just make more money doing it and consumers keep paying too much money to keep people in the lifestyles they become accustomed.
