By Abolghasem Bayyenat, published 2/3/2011

The presence in the Mediterranean of two Iranian naval ships means that for the first time Israel and Iran will be face to face.

Abolghasem Bayyenat wrote this article on something that could have had no military planning or intent as the journey was commenced well before any problems in Egypt. Therefore the passage of the Iranian warships seems not to be an action of any great pith and moment, militarily or politically.

I would welcome a stretching of the self-imposed bounds that Iran has lived with for years. The sooner they have some positive influence in the current turmoil that represents that part of the world, the better it will be.

Iran has a degree of restructuring yet to go, certainly, but it is an intelligent nation, more culturally aware than all others in the region and will eventually be the leading nation in that part of the world. They have the history to prove that capability and haven’t been engaging in any cruel and inhumane war other than defending themselves in the US-inspired war against the then US ally, Iraq, with US supplied chemical weapons.
US terrorism yet again. Hundreds of thousands dead.

Iran is the 18th largest country and one of the world’s oldest continuous civilisations. The difference between Zionist Israel and Islamic Iran is in the character of the people more than anything else. Surely, it would of some value for Iran to be ruled politically by the best secular people able to advance the country, and not have the Islamic Ayatollars in total control. But in that regard it is no different to Israel where Judaism as the religion but now in everyday life supplanted by the hateful philosophy of Zionism, the basis for their politics and warlike ambitions, totally tied in with their dogmas of everyone else being subservient, now entrenched in the US.

It is convenient for people to disregard history. Too many embarrassing lessons. But there is a lot to be learned from Iran, a country that refreshingly is not warlike.

So we had two Iranian ships through the Suez Canal in thirty years and hundreds of US ships on every piece of water on the globe, armed to the teeth.

Who is the warlike country?

Rex, it is refreshing to read a comment by someone who exhibits intelligence and awareness rather than displaying their indoctrination.

You are right. The U.S. is the warmonger of the world and it is anathema to peace. It is engaged in building an Empire that it hopes to eventually control the world with. It has no scruples and it is driven by greed for wealth and greed for power. It has turned killing into an art form.

I hope Iran sends many more warships into the Mediterranean. It is time that an Arab nation stood up to Israel, America's imperial proxy in the region. Providing a counterbalance to Israel is just what is required.

It might deter Israel from doing something foolish: like nuking Iran.

David,

The big danger is that Israel, masters of the false flag, will use an Libyan jet to drop a bomb on a US warship right now, escalating the Libyan problem one step higher than it has become already with the French, British and the US all off the coast of Benghazi in anything but a friendly manner.
Remember the USS Liberty, the perfidy that was Israel and its attempts in those days to move the US into a war against Egypt. This time a war against Libya. It would be on the drawing board, you can count on it.

Sadly, with the US now ready for military actions anywhere providing there is a plus for them as in Afghanistan with drugs, anything could happen and the one major thing to remember is that there is OIL in Libya.

Say no more.
