Good afternoon Erik, and well done.

There seems to be an endless quest to live beyond our means - aided and abetted by the people that want to sell us 'stuff', barely slowed by the economic crisis. It is the sorcerer's apprentice all over again, and again, and again!

Margaret Thatcher (and John Howard) started from the premise that people are there for the economy. I believe the economy is there to enable people to volunteer. Communities are driven and identified by what people do as volunteers, not by their economic activities.

I believe it is possible to live in a no growth or negative growth economy, with less stuff, and where we all have a smaller foot print.
This will give us more time to focus on the things that are really important for us to have a meaningful life: having choices, develop relationships and to contribute in our community.
