Kelly, the latest facts about Australian soldiers being involved in killing children can only serve to disgust the general public. Talk about rules of engagement is vain: we shouldn't be there in the first place. Afghanistan has never attacked or offered to attack us; we are only there as part of a general policy of currying favour with the USA, which has become an imperialist behemoth steeped in perpetual war. May we see all foreign troops withdraw soon.

This is about the only thing the Greens are right on; and I can only hope they learn consistency and end their war on Australian society at the same time.

Why do not tell us of a nice, transparently clear war with our boys as valiant dragon fighters and our Kelly as PM?

A very good article;

And quite frankly, we, Australia, should pull out simply because we're just putting ourselves in a worse situation on behalf of an ally that doesn't even look out for us.

At least we stood up to them when they tried to dump the Gitmo psychopaths here, and told them where they can stick them instead.

Kellie,

Yes, when it's all boiled down, why should we be concerned about those Afghan women who have raised their heads, or for their families ? Al Qa'ida has never actually attacked Australia, nor have their Taliban protectors, and in any case Afghanistan is a long way away, and therefore not our problem. We can't fight every human rights battle.

Perhaps we might get some peace and quiet for a while, if the Yanks and their allies all pulled out of the country, and left it to the Taliban and to all those groups around the world who similarly believe in the Caliphate, Allah's Word ruling the world, and who would find Afghanistan a safe haven. After all, al Shabbah, LeT, Jamaia Islamiya, Abu Sayyaf, AQIM, etc. and the Salafi groups in Yemen, Eritrea, Sudan, Chad, Nigeria, Senegal, India, SW Iran, Uzbekistan, etc., are all focussed on countries other than ours.

So while they may wreak havoc elsewhere, we can be thankful for a while that they will leave us alone. As the Taliban expands out through Pakistan and its allies move into Kashmir and India itself on the one side, and into Iran and Uzbekistan on the other sides (not to mention into the Muslim republics of the old Tsarist Empire), these are not issues that we need to pay any attention to. These countries are also far away and not really in our proper zone of interest or concern.

In any case, as the region of the Caliphate moves outwards, it may be possible to negotiate and do deals with the Taliban, al Qa'ida, LeT and even Jamaia Islamiya - after all, these are reasonable people who are simply, in their own terms, seeking to bring non-believers into their realm of believers, all over the world.

Yeah, that might work .....

I hope I live to see the day when Bush, Blair Howard, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfield and others of the Neocon gang, stand trial at The Hague for war crimes.
If there is any justice in the world, it will happen soon.

Pres Ahmadinejad of Iran recently addressed the UN and said the US Govt was involved in 911. 27 countries walked out in protest.We did not howerver hear that 165 countries remained and gave him a warm welcome.

It is about time we had an international investigation into 911.
