This article illustrates the real danger to the environment. Uncaring regimes such as the Chinese and Russian badly messing up major ecosystems such as the Yangtze.. forget about climate change, concentrate on unplanned development..

Oh and the Chinese government is such a showcase for planned development, aren't they? Tens of millions of people died like flies - but the planning was great.

And who owns the Yangtze River? Oh that's right, surprise surprise - it's the government.

Where are all the population growth advocates? Whenever concerns are raised about the infrastructure or environmental consequences of population growth, China is often touted as a place that manages quite well. Not so well, it would seem.

I guess it is human nature to subjugate evidence to appealing ideas. So things like infinite growth, Oasis Australia, or perpetual motion will always have supporters.
