Bush bankrupted the country with trillion dollar wars, forced low interest rates causing unproductive investment, stalled technological progress by blocking efficiency gains and stifling competition.
Like Howard, Bush also discarded all social responsibility and indulged in "culture wars" to pander to the most ignorant and opinionated. He too was used a tool by the media and business interests. These interests historically always use weak leadership in this way...and it always costs the nation dearly.
These same interests and segments of society are now instantly dismissing recent history and blaming Obama for the delayed economic carnage that was imposed on them. They will not be kind.
The fact that the privately run Fed *still* cannot be audited and that the rescued banks *still* pay executives $M salaries tells us that the democratic government has little say in the US.
Fascism is a emotionally charged word...but going by strictly its definition, this is what we are facing.
