America's first Asia Pacific President - not : Comments

By Walter Lohman, published 23/3/2010

If you think that the Indonesians will understand Barack Obama cancelling his visit for a third time, think again.

Given Obama's pathetic performance in his own country, it would be better if he remained NOT "America's first Asia Pacific President". He should be encouraged to stay well away from the region.

Hopefully, the Americans will not give him another term, and now is the time for the Left wing spoilers, who have always carped for Austalia to stop sucking up to America, to raise their voices even louder - whoops, I forgot. They are only against an America led by a Republican president, and it's now OK for it's Democrat leader, who can't close Gitmo, get out of Iraq, and who escalates in Afghanistan, to do as he pleases; or rather to do nothing because he is useless.

I'm talking, of course, of those Australians who screeched their empty heads off about Iraq and Afghanistan during Howard's time, but are now strangely silent when their darling Rudd is continuing on where Howard left off.

How predictable that OLO's most anti-non-white poster should be the first to comment here.

I think the Americans will give Obama another term - after all, he just gave them health care.

You are 'playing the man' as you accused me of doing, David Jennings. After all, what difference does my opinion make to you? Nothing I would suggest, unless you are in fact trying to bully me into keeping quiet :). You did agree with someone on another thread that I was a bully, did you not? It seems that you are also a bully, then, and a 'player of the man'.

There were at least as many Americans against the health scheme as there were for; and they were not all rich Republicans. The bill got through by 3 votes only.

Many American are more concerned about jobs than they are about health at the moment. They want better health care, sure. But they believe that jobs and other concerns are more important at the moment. Obama’s scheme is going to be very, very costly and will take away money from job creation and other things the poor dearly need.

We are told that America's health care is almost non-existent for the poor, and this is bad. I can't see why a wealthy country like America can not have, at least a Medicare system as we have in Australia. But, that’s America, and there’s nothing in it for us.

See if you can answer that without your usual self-righteous waffling.

You forgot 'and threatens to make war against Iran'.

David
"he just gave them health care."

And maybe he should "give them" food, and collectivise agriculture?

Yes, Peter. It would take a long time to list the 'sins' of Obama.

And to think he promised to solve the Iran problems by going there to have a cosy little chat with them!

President Obama is full of it!

Actually, I did not suggest that you were a bully and I didn't agree with the person who said that you were a cyber-bully. Though I do think that your posts show an element of spite against non-whites. Perhaps you should pay more attention to what actually gets said?

I fully agree with Obama's health care plan. The costs have been exaggerated - have a read of Krugman's op-ed.

I have noticed that you tend to target non-white authors and non-white politicians on OLO. Noticing that, and commenting on it, isn't wrong, because it is fair comment. Effectively, it goes to credibility and each time you go out of your way to demean a non-white it diminishes your credibility. The key difference is that I am not making a comment on what you are - rather I am commenting on what you are doing. That's not 'playing the man' thats making a fair comment. And unlike some of your other critics I have not resorted to crude or abusive language.
