When I click to get further comments I get an ad which tells me to open or close. When I close I may get the page I requested or I may get all the comments.

I have no problems. Why does anyone need to be notified of anything. Just look.

I just stay logged in, and haven’t activated notifications.
But things happen, the day before yesterday Yahoo was telling me that I had no net access even though I could get any other sites, cleared up after a few hours. Posted by Is Mise, Friday, 1 July 2022 10:11:56 AM

Issy, who was telling you that? Was it Yahoo Serious, or maybe it was Young Einstein.

In answer to Is Mise-
It appears that a series of bad decisions have decimated the capacity of Yahoo to provide services. Free web services are challenging for providers- how do you funnel clients to paid services to support development and maintenance costs- personally I believe that a balance needs to be struck between short and long cyclical trends. Between fashion and stability. Perhaps Marissa Mayer spent too much on fashion and not understanding her stakeholders. It's interesting that those talking about disruptive technology often disrupt themselves. To be fair Marissa Mayer may have been a good project manager. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahoo! Carol Bartz, who had no previous experience in Internet advertising, replaced Yang (one of the founders) as CEO in January 2009. CFO Tim Morse was named as Interim CEO of the company. In April 2012, after the appointment of Scott Thompson as CEO, several key executives resigned, including chief product officer Blake Irving. On April 4, 2012, Yahoo announced 2,000 layoffs. On May 13, 2012, Thompson was fired and was replaced on an interim basis by Ross Levinsohn, recently appointed head of Yahoo's new Media group. Several associates of Third Point Management, including Daniel S. Loeb were nominated to the board of directors. Thompson's total compensation for his 130-day tenure with Yahoo was at least $7.3 million.[56] On July 15, 2012, Marissa Mayer was appointed president and CEO of Yahoo, effective July 17, 2012. On February 2, 2016, Mayer announced layoffs amounting to 15% of the Yahoo! workforce. On June 13, 2017, Verizon completed the acquisition of Yahoo and Marissa Mayer resigned. ________ Allegations of gender-based discrimination Scott Ard, a prominent editorial director, fired from Yahoo! in 2015, filed a lawsuit alleging that "Mayer encouraged and fostered the use of an employee performance-rating system to accommodate management’s subjective biases and personal opinions, to the detriment of Yahoo!’s male employees." Thank you CM for all that riveting information, and we must also thank Professor Google as well, what would we do without him. It certainly helped to fire up my good old COMMODORE 64.
